Ville Lac Brome, célèbre cette année son quarantième anniversaire de fusion: 1971-2011.  Avant de célébrer, est-ce que vous voulez évaluer votre conseil municipal?  Voici une façon simple et unique, il suffit de voter jusqu’à un maximum de trois réponses dans le sondage.

Directeur Général du Lac Brome/Lac Brome’s GM

Jean Bourret semble ne pas faire l’unanimité au conseil comme directeur général.  Après plus de 20 ans au service de la communauté, Bromeblog se demande s’il est temps qu’il laisse sa place à un nouveau DG?

Sondage démontre tendance demandant la démission du Maire (un seul vote par adress IP).

Publié le 2 Aout 2011 :L’ancien maire Dick Wisdom demande la démission, rien de moins! de Gilles Decelles, le maire actuel.  Il invoque conflit d’intérêt dans deux cas.  Est-ce là une excuse mais il y avait déjà des commentaires dans le publique en général qui disait que si le maire ne peut faire avancer le conseil, ni faire fonctionner la mairie, la chose la plus honorable serait qu’il démissione.  Bromeblog aimerait avoir vos commentaires sur ce sujet ou simplement votre vote dans le sondage au bas de la page…

Originaly published on Aug. 2nd 2011 : Dick Wisdom (previous mayor) is asking that Gilles Decelles steps down as the actual mayor citing conflict of interests in two cases.  Is this an excuse or simply a chance to give the boot to the actual mayor as even the general public is rumbling rumours that Gilles should do the honorable thing and step down, point blank, no questions asked, as the mayor.  He has not been able to make council work, has not been able to gather respect from any town employees and frankly this might be the most honorable thing to do at this stage, to simply stepdown, leave it to the star councillors to take the reign.  Bromblog would like to hear your comments on this hot subject or just vote on the survey to see if you agree with Dick`s comment?

Le barrage de l’étang Mill (Blackwood), Mill Pond Dam solutions et suggestions

Le barrage de l’étang Mill au centre de Knowlton devra être reconstruit ou démolit.  La ville a indiquée dans son budget que les coûts seront de 1,6 millions de dollars et que le dragage de l’étang Mill coûtera un autre 400,000$.

Existe-t-il des solutions moins coûteuses?  Où est l’urgence?  on en parle ici.

The Mill Pond Dam will need to be rebuilt or demolished.  The town has evaluated in their budget that it will cost 1.6 millions $ and that cleaning the pond of its accumulated sediments will cost another 400,000$.

Are there any cheaper solutions?  Where is the emergency?  let’s talk about it here!

Déménagement du garage municipal… Moving the municipal garage…

Garage municipal : terrain contaminé au centre ville de Knowlton

Le déménagement du garage municipal est à l’agenda de la ville.  Certains conseillers ne sont pas tres chaud à l’idée tandis que d’autre dise que c’est inévitable.  Une chose est certaine, les anciennes pratiques de changement d’huile jetés au sol des années passés ont contaminé les sols du site.  La décontamination pourrait coûter plus cher que le simple déménagement.  Ce site extraordinaire au centre ville coûtera aux contribuables des millions de dollars à déménager et quelques millions de plus à décontaminer… Quoi faire?  Vos suggestions sont les bienvenues!  Bromeblogger pense que la décontamination est essentielle pour nos générations futures et pour le développement économique du centre du village de Knowlton.  Il me semble que ce dossier doit être régler au préalable avant de faire la réfection du barrage Blackwood et le recreusage de l’étang Mill.  Le site du garage municipal pourrait être un bon site pour sortir le gravier et les sédiments de l’étang Mill.  Le conseil et les fonctionnaires de la ville jouent avec notre avenir, un effort concerté est essentiel pour arriver à des solutions permettant un essor économique durable.  Qu’en pensez-vous?

The move of the municipal garage is on the agenda of the city. Some councillors are not very warm to the idea while other say it’s inevitable. One thing is certain, the old practices of oil change thrown on the ground of past years have contaminated soil from the site. Decontamination could cost more than the simple moving of buildings. This extraordinary site is centrally located in the downtown and will cost taxpayers millions of dollars to move and a few million more to clean up … What to do? Your suggestions are welcome! Bromeblogger think that decontamination is critical to our future generations and for the economic center of the village of Knowlton. It seems to me that this file must be decided first before making repairs to the dam and the Blackwood Mill Pond. The site of the municipal garage might be a good site to remove the gravel and sediment from Mill Pond. Council and city officials are playing with our future, a concerted effort is essential to arrive at solutions to sustainable economic development. What do you think?

Les fils enfouis ou non? Should we bury the wires in Knowlton?

L’histoire nous indique qu’une subvention de près de 700,000$ avait été donné voilà plusieurs années pour enfouir les fils électriques au centre du village de Knowlton.  Suite à des chicanes entre le maire Stanley Neil, les conseillers et les résidents à qui une note salée leurs étaient refilée, et parceque la date limite pour s’en prévaloir fût passé, l’argent dû être retournée.  Résultat, aujourd’hui ce dossier est de retour sur la sellette.  Doit-on cette fois-ci, aller de l’avant et cacher ces fils électrique et faire un peu comme Sutton qui s’est donné un nouveau souffle économique en faisant ce pas vers l’avenir?  Qu’en pensez-vous?

History tells us that many years ago, a grant of 700,000$ was given to the town of Lac Brome to bury the electrical wires in the downtown part of Knowlton.  Following what was perceived to be intestinal fighting amongst the then mayor Stanley Neil, the councilors and the fact that a hefty fees was going to be paid by the merchants, the deadline to spend the money expired dad to be returned.  The results is that today we are again talking about burying the wires like Sutton just did, which seems to have generated an economical revival towards the future.  What is your opinion on this subjet? La gare Foster doit-elle retourner à Foster? Must the old train station return to Foster?

Avril 2011, Comme vous avez sûrement lû dans les journaux, le maire Decelles et le conseiller de Foster M. Ouvrard veulent retourner la gare Foster, présentement sur les abords du golf de la famille Allard (Golf Lac Brome), à son point d’origine de Foster pour vraisemblement en faire le nouveau bureau touristique de Ville Lac Brome.  La gare est présentement utilisée par Renaissance Lac Brome, fût abandonné par la chambre de commerce en 2006 car trop loin des activités commerciales principalement regroupées dans le secteur Knowlton.

Que pensez-vous de ce déménagement?  Est-ce une bonne chose, est-ce inévitable, est-ce un affront aux bénévoles qui y ont investi temps et sueur?  Vos commentaires sont les bienvenus!

April 2011 : As you probably read in the local newspaper, Mayor Decelles and councillor Ouvrard (Foster) want to return the old train station to downtown Foster.  It is sitting now near the edge of the golf club Lac Brome, property of the Allard family.  They want it out of their property.  It is used now by Renaissance Lac Brome and was abandoned in 2006 by the chamber of commerce as it was judged too far from the heart of the commercial activities mostly located in Knowlton.

What do you think of this proposal to move the old train station?  Is that a good thing, inevitable anyway, or is this another slap in the face to the volunteers who have invested their time and efforts?  Your comments are welcomed!

29 mai 2011 : La ville n’avait pas prévu le loyer de 1500$/mois que la famille Allard chargerait au locataire du bureau touristique.  Pensez-vous que la ville a fait une bonne affaire en créant un vide d’information touristique au centre ville?

May29th 2011: the town did not see coming the 1500$ per month that the Allard family is charging for the tourism office.  Do you think the town did a good move by creating a void in tourism information services downtown?
